First post of a long journey...

This is my first post to this blog.  I started my journey as a GS in July 2013. I was interested in doing this after watching a good friend of mine being a surrogate mother of twins.  I admired her for doing something so amazing and wanted to do the same.  So by August 2013 I was matched with a wonderful couple.  We met in person a few weeks later.  It was very difficult communicating in the beginning due to the language barrier but it is much easier now and if we don't understand each other we just laugh it off.

Where are we at now in our journey....
Well today is day 2 of waiting on my period to arrive so we can restart medications and try for a new cycle.  We transferred one 5 day old embryo on January 30 in Stamford CT. We had to wait a long two weeks before we were able to see if we had a positive of pregnancy.  When the results came in the Beta number was a low 44. Still Positive but low :( So with the excitement of finding out finding out that it was a positive of pregnancy we still realized that there was a possibility that this would not work out which was heartbreaking.  I went back for bloodwork 4 days later and my level was up to 328!!!! The guys and I were so thrilled.  We thought that this is exactly what the clinic will want to see! Boy were we wrong...They told us that the levels were too low and I needed to stop meds! Wow!!! We were not expecting that at all!!! I was filled with all kinds of emotions...I wondered why wouldn't this work? I wondered if I did something wrong? The nurse assured me it wasn't anything I did and it was simply not meant to be this time around.  We knew the doctor knows what is best and we will listen to what he says.  So for now the guys and I continue to Skype every Wednesday and keep our fingers crossed and pray for the best.
